Planning Process

Project Planning

Project planning is an essential, core element of any successful system implementation. There are a great number of project planning methodologies. We have elected to implement methods based on the Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI) methods.

Project Management

The CMMI method covers project management activities related to planning, monitoring, and project control. The Project Management process areas of CMMI are as follows:

  • Project Planning
  • Project Monitoring and Control
  • Supplier Agreement Management
  • Integrated Project Management
  • Risk Management
  • Quantitative Project Management
The Project Management process areas address the activities related to establishing and maintaining project plans, establishing and maintaining commitments, monitoring activity and progress against the plan, and remediation activity.  Planning begins with requirements which define the project and its deliverables. The project plan identifies various project management and engineering activities and dependencies that will be performed in the project.  The Quantitative Project Management process area applies measurement and statistical techniques to manage process performance and product quality.  Quality and process-performance objectives for the project are based on those established by the organization or client.  The project’s defined process comprises, in part, process elements and sub-processes whose process performance can be predicted.
